Cheat version of chee cheong fun. Made with Vietnamese rice paper in 15 minutes. Not quite the real thing but close enough. As we say in Hokkien, no fish, prawn also good. (Actually, prawns would have been good.)

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 6 sheets Vietnamese rice paper (square ones would roll up into nicer tubes compared to round ones)

  • Sesame oil

  • Soya sauce

Soak the rice paper in water with some sesame oil for about 10 minutes, then gently roll them. I used three sheets to make one roll.

Place on plate that has been lightly oiled with sesame oil. Steam for 2 minutes.

Serve with light soya sauce and more sesame oil, my favourite way of eating it.

You can also wrap prawns in it, but steam the rolls for 5 minutes to ensure the prawns are cooked through.
